Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement explains the privacy practices of AiO Konnect for users of the AiO Konnect websites, monitoring platform, and mobile application (collectively, the “Site”).

AiO Konnect’s Commitment to Privacy

AiO Konnect respects your right to privacy. Your ability to make informed choices about the uses of your information is important to us. This Privacy Statement explains AiO Konnect’s policy regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of personal information. The terms of this Privacy Statement apply to information collected from you unless different terms are specified as part of a special offer or in another form or contract we provide you.

What is Personal Information?

Personal Information (also called “personal data” under the GDPR) is information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person, such as a customer’s name, address, telephone number, email address, credit card number, or other identifiers.

Collection of Personal Information

When you create an account or use the Site, we collect the following categories of Personal Information:

  • Account information such as your name, email address, and password (“Account Information”)
  • Mobile device specific identifiers such as make and model, IMEI, and phone number (“Device Identifiers”)
  • The location of your photovoltaic system (“Location Data”)
  • Feedback, such as customer support or product reviews (“Feedback”)
  • Product information, such as serial number, product registration, and licensing information (“Product Information”)
  • System and device data from your photovoltaic system (for example, inverter telemetry, performance data and alerts, local electricity consumption, battery data, time of use data) (“System Data”)
  • Transaction and purchase records (for example, orders, invoices, and payment confirmation details) (“Purchase Records”)

We collect Personal Information that you provide to us directly, such as when you:

  • Register to use the Site or to receive our newsletter
  • Register to use the AiO Konnect Monitoring Platform or application
  • Use the administrative interface of the AiO Konnect Monitoring Platform or application to provide information related to your photovoltaic system and account
  • Place an order or purchase products or services online
  • Contact our customer support, whether by phone, email, or chat

When you use the Site, we may automatically collect information about your device and your use of the Site (for example, the pages or screens you view, the site from which you linked to us, and the time and date of your visit).

Personal data we receive from third parties

In some cases, we receive personal data from third parties (for example, an installer, distributor, or other provider involved in connecting AiO Konnect products to our monitoring platform and application). This may include your contact details and product/system identifiers.

AiO Konnect does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 16.

How we use your personal data (purposes and legal bases)

The GDPR requires us to explain why we use your personal data and the lawful basis we rely on. Each purpose below includes the lawful basis that applies and the categories of personal data that are processed:

  • Provide the AiO Konnect service(create and manage your account, connect your photovoltaic system, display performance data and alerts, and communicate with you about the service) — performance of a contract with you. Categories: Account Information, Device Identifiers, Location Data, Product Information, and System Data.
  • Provide customer support and handle your queries— performance of a contract with you (where you request support) and our legitimate interests in providing an effective support service. Categories: all categories set out above that are relevant to your queries.
  • Process purchases and payments and keep related records— performance of a contract with you and compliance with our legal obligations (for example, tax and accounting). Categories: Account Information, Product Information, and Purchase Records.
  • Maintain, protect, and improve the Site(including troubleshooting, analytics, security monitoring, and fraud prevention) — our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service. Categories: Account Information, Device Identifiers, Location Data, Product Information, and System Data.
  • Send you marketing communications(such as newsletters) — your consent (you can withdraw it at any time). Categories: Account Information and Product Information.
  • Comply with legal requirements and respond to lawful requests from public authorities— compliance with our legal obligations. Categories: all categories set out above that are relevant to the request.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider and balance our interests against your rights and freedoms. You have the right to object to this processing (see “Your Rights” below).

Marketing and your choices

We will only send you marketing communications where you have opted in (for example, by signing up for our newsletter) or where otherwise permitted by law.

You can withdraw your consent or opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us at support@aiokonnect.com. You can also object to direct marketing at any time.

Is providing your personal data mandatory?

Some personal data is needed to create and manage your account and to provide the monitoring service (for example, account details and product/system identifiers). If you do not provide this data, you may not be able to use all or part of the Site. Other data may be optional (for example, marketing preferences).

Sharing of Personal Information

AiO Konnect does not sell your Personal Information to third parties. We share personal data with third parties only where it is necessary to provide and operate the Site, to support our business, or where required by law, as described below.

Who we share your personal data with

Depending on how you use the Site, we may share your personal data with the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site (for example, hosting, communications, customer support, analytics, security, and payment processing providers).
  • Installers, distributors, and other business partners involved in connecting and supporting AiO Konnect products (where needed for connectivity and support).
  • Professional advisers (such as lawyers, accountants, and insurers).
  • Regulators, law enforcement, courts, and other public authorities where we are required to do so, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
  • Parties to a corporate transaction (for example, a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets), and their advisers.

International Transfers of Personal Data

AiO Konnect is based in Ireland and we aim to process your personal data within the European Economic Area (EEA). However, some of our service providers and technology partners may process, store, or access your personal data from outside the EEA.

Lawfulness and safeguards

We transfer personal data outside the EEA only where the GDPR permits it. Depending on the destination and the circumstances, we may rely on (i) an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission, or (ii) Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission (and, where necessary, supplementary measures such as encryption, strict access controls, and policies designed to limit access).

Third countries

At the date of this Privacy Statement, personal data may be transferred outside the EEA to the following third country or countries: the United Kingdom, based on the European Commission’s decision that it provides adequate protections for personal data.

You can request more information about the transfers we carry out (including the relevant safeguards) by contacting support@aiokonnect.com. Copies of Standard Contractual Clauses, if used, may be redacted where necessary to protect confidentiality.

Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing (including profiling) that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you.

Protection of Personal Information

AiO Konnect has put into place security measures in an effort to protect Personal Information from loss, misuse, or alteration while it is under our control. Personal Information we collect is stored electronically. We use technical, contractual, administrative, and physical measures in an effort to protect against unauthorised access.

Account information is accessible online only through the use of a password. To protect the confidentiality of your Personal Information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person.

While we use reasonable measures to protect information stored within our database, and we restrict access to those employees who need access to perform their job functions, such as our customer service personnel and technical staff, we cannot guarantee the security of account information. Unauthorised entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of account information at any time.

Aggregate Information

We may create aggregated and de-identified statistics about how our products and services are used (for example, usage trends across a group of users or devices). Where this information is anonymised (meaning it cannot be linked back to you), it is not personal data for GDPR purposes.

We may use and share anonymised aggregated statistics for the purposes of evaluating and improving our services and for commercial purposes.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Right of access— you have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification— you have the right to request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure— you have the right to request that we delete your personal data, subject to certain conditions.
  • Right to restriction of processing— you have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability— you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
  • Right to object— you have the right to object to processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests as our lawful basis.
  • Right to withdraw consent— where we rely on your consent to process your personal data, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you believe that AiO Konnect has not handled your personal data in accordance with GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC), the supervisory authority in Ireland:

Through our Site, users can link to other websites of third parties that provide useful information. Any information you provide on those linked pages is provided directly to that third party and is subject to their own privacy policy. AiO Konnect is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites to which we link. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of each website before providing them with any information.

Retention and Deletion

We will only retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary for the purpose for which that data was collected and to the extent required by applicable law. When we no longer need Personal Information, we will remove it from our systems and/or take steps to anonymise it.

The bullet points below set out the typical retention periods that apply to the main categories of personal data we hold. These periods may be extended where required by law or where data is subject to an ongoing legal dispute.

  • Account information(name, email, password) — retained for the duration of your account plus 12 months after closure.
  • System and device data(inverter telemetry, location, local electricity consumption, battery data, time of use data) — retained for the duration of your account plus 12 months after closure.
  • Customer support records— retained for 3 years from the date of the interaction.
  • Transaction and purchase records— retained for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting obligations.

Changes to this Statement

AiO Konnect reserves the right to change this Privacy Statement at any time but will alert you that changes have been made by indicating at the bottom of the Privacy Statement the date it was last updated. We encourage you to review our Privacy Statement periodically. If there is ever a material change to how we use your information and the new uses are unrelated to the uses disclosed in this statement, the amended Privacy Statement will be posted on the Site.
